Kind of Activity:
Group Work
Objective:
Students will produce Mind Maps that aggregate information having to do with key themes in the work.
Structure:
Provide students with unlined paper of some kind (e.g., printer paper, some form of construction paper) as well as colored pencils or markers or just pencils. Using themes offered in the "Introduction of the Novel" section of this Lesson Plan, ask students to briefly discuss the major themes of the work:
Shame and Shamelessness
Political Struggle
The Role of Women
The Nature of Storytelling
