    Why do you think Winterson presents Jordan's meeting with Fortunata as potentially imagined?

    The novel calls into question our view of reality through elements of magical realism but also through the philosophical questioning on the nature of human experience. Several times, Jordan muses about his physical experiences versus his internal experiences, not differentiating between them like most people do.
