    Consider Dog-Woman's violent acts in this section. How does the text portray them and what is the impact of this?

    Strong responses will note that Dog-Woman commits many violent acts toward Puritans without much thought and certainly no remorse. The novel itself does not seem to take issue with Dog-Woman's actions, instead seeming to even condone them. In other words, the way the novel presents Dog-Woman's violent acts will likely not cause readers to turn against her, despite how they feel about this kind of violence outside of the book.
