Raise
Scrooge enters Cratchit's home and, so it appears, is in a typical humbug mood about being there. Ironically, he's come to spread Christmas cheer and give Bob a raise at work as he's a changed man after his visits from the spirits.
Love
Mr. Jorkin is the man who seduced Scrooge away from Fezziwig and eventually from his girlfriend and love, Alice. Ironically, Scrooge chooses money and material wealth over the reality of having love and lasting friendship and relationships for all his days.
Business Hours
Jacob Marley, Scrooge's only friend and business partner, lay dying. Ironically, Scrooge won't visit his friend who's on his death bed as it is during business hours. He lets nothing, not even the tragic loss of his friend take time away from him making money.
Can't Eat it
Scrooge refuses to allow himself the additional food he wants at his Christmas Eve meal when he learns the bread costs extra for more. Ironically, Scrooge refuses himself the same nourishment he refuses everyone else who clamors to him for money. His greediness and hoarding of his money, he believes, is his nourishment.
Toast
The Crachits are celebrating Christmas when Scrooge arrives with The Spirit of Christmas Present to show the bitter old man how joyful people are. Ironically, Scrooge is hurt when the Cratchits won't allow the mention of Scrooge's name in a toast. He realizes that he is not a man whom others honor.
