Romancing Mr Bridgerton is a historical romance novel written by Julia Quinn and is the fourth in her Bridgerton Series. The series follows the romantic journey of eight siblings and how they handle British society when it comes to marriage and love. It was published by Piatkus Books on 3 December 2009.
The book follows the carefree and charming third brother, Colin Bridgeton. Known to be a bit of a rake, Colin has spent his formative years traveling the world and engaging in flirtations. However, he desperately seeks for something deeper and meaningful in his life. This comes in the surprising form of his sisters’ best friend, Penelope Featherington, a woman who he had once embarrassed in a public setting. However, Penelope herself is hiding a deep secret which puts her at odds with her emerging romance with Colin.
The series has been adapted into a Netflix series by Shonda Rhimes under the title Bridgerton and was released in December 2020. The fourth series of the show is set to follow Colin’s story, and will star Luke Newton as Colin Bridgerton and Nicola Coughlan as Penelope Featherington. The book was also praised by Romance Reviews Today for being “'A romance readers will not want to put down.”
