He is Amelia’s brother who is utterly dexterous at swimming. His demise, which befalls while swimming, wounds Amelia for life.
Ferlin Axe
He is Irwin’s competitive challenger in swimming. He challenges Irwin to a swimming contest which culminates in Irwin’s passing.
Harley
He is Amelia’s brother who is tremendously intimate with their parents. The parents’ ill-fated bereavement befalls when he is eight.
Uncle Jack
He is Amelia’s uncle who temporarily accommodates Amelia and her brothers before they are shifted to the missionary school.
John
Amelia’s brother who counterattacks the philosophies which the missionary school endorses. He is subjected to corporal penalties due to his rebellion.
Frankie
He is Amelia’s brother who endeavors to imitate John’s guise of toughness, though he does not persuade those at the school that he is rough as John.
Ben Starr
He is Amelia’s foremost boyfriend. He passes on in circumstances identical to John’s.
