Persepolis is a graphic novel/memoir covering themes of religion, family, and the rites of coming of age. In terms of general popularity and as a critically-acclaimed work, it shares a seat with Maus I and II (Art Spiegelman), another graphic novel which covers modern political historical events through the lens of a private individual.
