Persepolis, published as a four-part series in France between 2000 and 2003, received the coveted Coup de Coeur award at the Angoulême International Comics Festival in 2001, cementing Satrapi's status as a leading graphic novelist. Persepolis was adapted into an animated feature film in 2007 and won the Special Jury Award at the Cannes Film Festival.
