    Do you think that the men who attacked the Convent truly thought the women there were evil?

    Morrison writes that each of the men who go and attack the Convent have their own reasons for despising the women there. For many of them, it and they represent their own shame. Menus, for example, carrying a self-loathing for the heartbreak he inflicted on himself and someone he loved, allowed himself to be seen in a very vulnerable state when he went to the Convent for help. Though they did help him, that gave them a power over him, knowing that depth of his weakness. The other men have similar reasons for wanting to obliterate the women, and the knowledge that they carry with them....
