No One is too Small to Make a Difference is a collection of Greta Thunberg's speeches against climate change. Her movement started when she decided to go on a school strike by sitting in front of the Swedish parliament house in 2018. She got this idea after winning a writing competition about the environment, after which she met other climate activists who discussed what could be done about the problem. Moreover, she was impressed by the school strike that the Parkland students had organized in the wake of the school shooting there. However, since she was not able to convince others to join her strike, she planned it all by herself. She also received no help from her parents.
Thunberg's first strike was on the 20th of August, 2018, when she handed out flyers in front of the parliament building and posted about her cause on social media, where she soon gained a large audience. Soon she was invited to speak in front of world leaders in many countries, e.g. the World Economic Forum, the European Parliament, or the UN.
In her speeches, Thunberg keeps repeating the essential points that climate change is real and that it will reach a tipping point around 2030, after which its effects can no longer be controlled. Using radical and simple language, she urges her audience to take action immediately, and she frequently cites scientific sources such as the IPCC to back up her arguments. At the same time, she is frustrated that protecting the environment is a low priority in most countries even though it is considered an existential threat.
