Greta Thunberg
Greta mentions at the very beginning that she has Asperger’s and that she sees the world in black and white, which means that she finds it difficult to understand the behavior of people. For example, she says that fossil fuels are bad for the environment, yet they are not banned.
Because she wants people to wake up and stop the climate crisis, she decides to go on a school strike by sitting in front of the Swedish parliament house in 2018. She got this idea after winning a writing competition about the environment, after which she met other climate activists who discussed what could be done about the problem. Moreover, she was impressed by the school strike that the Parkland students had organized in the wake of the school shooting there. However, since she was not able to convince others to join her strike, she planned it all by herself.
In her many speeches in front of world leaders, she uses direct language and boldly accuses the audience of not doing enough to stop climate change. Knowing that she can do very little to change the mindset of the politicians and people in charge because they pursue riches instead of a healthy environment, she frequently emphasizes that the key to climate change is civil disobedience (she even talks about unrest) and the power of the masses.
Greta also says that she writes her own speeches, but seeks input from experts to make sure that her claims are as accurate as possible.
Greta's parents
Greta briefly refers to her parents when she describes how she started her movement. According to her, she got no support from them at the beginning, and they were far from environmentally friendly, but later they pay for her transportation to various places.
Ingmar Rentzhog
Greta briefly mentions Mr Rentzhog as a Swedish businessman and environmental activist, who was one of the first people to arrive when she sat down in front of the Swedish parliament.
Beata
Beata is Greta's little sister. Apart from the fact that she is three years younger than Greta, no information is given about her.
