Ninth House Irony

Ninth House Irony

The paradox of Sandow

Sandow is the head of Lethe House, a leading centre of secret societies that are causing havoc to innocent souls at Yale University. Alex is given a chance to study at Yale by Sandow, and he assigns her the cult responsibilities of ensuring that all the rituals are conducted successfully. Ironically, Sandow is the one who sends a gluma to attack Alex when she conducts a ritual on Tara's body. Later, Tara was killed by Sandow, who disguised himself as Lance.

The Satire of Alex’s life

Alex's life is ironic and confusing. While growing up, Alex is compared to a butterfly because she is innocent, beautiful and pure. Satirically, things took a drastic turn when she returned from school. A ghost raped Alex on her way home, and her life changed for the worst. Firstly, Alex started with drug addiction and became the most vicious member of a cult at the university.

The irony of Blake

Blake is a fraternity student at Yale University who sexually assaults Mercy, Alex’s roommate. When Alex learns of the incident, she confronts Blake and threatens him. Satirically, Blake uses Merity, a highly secretive magic drug used by the secretive societies’ members only. Alex compels Blake to surrender the drug and delete the video he recorded assaulting Mercy. Alex managed to threaten Blake by recording a video of him eating feces.

The irony of Tara

Before her death, Tara was a little known person at the University of Yale. When Pamela notified Alex about a woman's corpse in the campus' gym, Alex informed Turner, and they started an investigation on her murder, and the prime suspect was Lance. While questioning Lance, Alex found it satirical that Tara had been growing and selling Merity and mushrooms to secret societies’ members within the university.
