Discuss why Hailsham students pressure each other to avoid certain "taboo" topics.

Certain topics are "taboo" among Hailsham students. Many of these topics are related to the horrifying, unspoken truth of Hailsham: that the students are created for organ harvest as soon as they reach adulthood.
