A Midsummer Night's Dream is a comedy written by William Shakespeare, most likely first produced in 1595. The play follows three intertwining stories. The first is that of four mismatched lovers: Hermia, who loves Lysander; Lysander, who loves Hermia; Demetrius, who loves Hermia and has been chosen by her father to be her husband; and Helena, Hermia's friend, who was once engaged to and was madly in love with Demetrius.
