Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25 Book 1 Imagery

Imagery of prison

Elgen Academy looks more like a prison with a wire fence surrounding it. The kids are only able to leave when Dr. Hatch permits them. The rooms, despite the luxury of them, seem more like cells without the inner door handle. All of this aside, Elgen Academy has actual prison cells in the lowest level where the disobedient Glows are detained. This prison-like state of the building hints at the actuality of what happens there.

Imagery of spiders

Spiders crawling is used to describe the way Dr. Hatch is using the web the locate Michael and Taylor. He succeeds and they eventually both get trapped inside his net. Using the image of spiders often in titles implies that it's purposefully done to have a connotation with Dr. Hatch.

Imagery of luxury

Dr. Hatch showers Taylor with luxury when she first arrives at the Elgen Academy. There are expensive designer clothes, driving in expensive cars and visiting the most expensive and luxurious jeweler. There he tries to bribe Taylor by buying her an extremely expensive diamond necklace. Despite all of this luxury he is unable to buy Taylor's obedience. Hatch uses luxury to hide his true evil intentions.
