Irony of Power
Michael is the most powerful electric human in the world, and yet in many instances the Elgen technology drains the power from him, rendering him next to useless. Hatch is also the least powerful member of the Elgen Academy, but all his students still listen to and obey him when they could easily just kill him and do whatever they want.
Irony of Victory
When the Electroclan wins the Battle of the Ampere, causing an explosion and sinking it into the water, they have achieved victory, which should bring rest and peace. However, it only brings more conflict; Hatch escapes and flees to China to pick up a new resource (Jade Dragon), making the Electroclan hunt him down and defeat him all over again.
Irony of Abigail's Power
Abigail can take away the pain of anyone she touches, but she herself feels the pain from the RESATs more than anyone else, and she can't do anything about it.
Irony of the Dragon
Hatch likens himself to the dragon in the book of Revelation that gives power to the beast (representing the seventeen electric children who will rule over the human race). Ironically, though, in the metaphor of Nietzsche in Thus Spake Zarathustra (the source of Hatch's philosophy), the dragon is the character Thou Shalt who needs to be killed by the great man in order to escape existent human morality and imperatives - the Elgen Academy might turn against him.
Irony of the Amacarra
Michael and Tessa leave the hospitality of the Amacarra in order to protect them, as both the Elgen guards and the Peruvian army are trying to hunt them down. After they leave, however, the army massacres the Amacarra anyway.
