Magisterium is a sci-fi and Fantasy Fiction novel by American author Jeff Hirsch. It was published in 2012 by Scholastic Press. The novel explores a world split in half by a mysterious Rift. On one side exists a technologically advanced civilization known as Colloquium and on the other a wasteland. Glenn Morgan is a teenage girl living in Colloquium. She studies hard in hopes of one day becoming an astronaut.
Glenn's father is unfortunately arrested, and she has to flee to the dark side of the planet. Her father gifts her a bracelet that allows her to pass through the mysterious Rift. To her surprise, she finds a dangerous world known as the Magisterium, full of magic and mutated beings. Magistra is the leader of this world, and he rules with an iron fist.
Magisterium is a novel full of adventure and paranormal phenomena that is gripping and enticing. The marriage of science fiction and fantasy opens up this world to endless possibilities. The novel was nominated for the 2012 Bookworm Best Award.
