Born Elaine Potter Richardson on May 25, 1949 in St. John's, Antigua, Jamaica Kincaid is a Caribbean literary luminary, having published over dozens of books and short stories. Broadly speaking, her work engages themes of Black feminism, colonialism, sexuality, class, power, coming of age, racism, and imperialism. She is the recipient of the Dan David Prize in Literature, among a host of other awards and accolades.
