Lord of Emperors Imagery

The imagery of the blue moon and fortress' room.

The author describes the moon and the King's fortress room using the sense of sight. The author writes, "The blue moon, Anahita's, rose in the late afternoon, balancing the low sun. Within the fortress of Kerakek, men went forth into that dry wind to kill the three physicians, to kill a son of the King, to summon a son of the King, to bear messages to Kabadh, to summon a priest with holy Fire to the King of Kings in his room." The imagery is significant because it shows the brutality of the King of Kings. The king suffers from an arrow wound, and physicians are brought to attend to him. However, these physicians are killed when they fail to remove the arrow. Similarly, the king does not want some of his sons and orders them to be killed. Consequently, the imagery is important because it symbolizes the King of Kings' brutality.

The imagery of the village of Kerakek

Kerakek is a dusty village. The author writes, "In the village of Kerakek, below the fortress, the sand got into everything when the wind came from the desert." The imagery in this context is significant because it shows the value of Kerakek village to the King of Kings. The village is where the King of Kings spends his leisure time while hunting. Kerakek village has been a great holiday destination to the King of Kings until the day he is accidentally shot.

The slight rustling sound

The author depicts the sense of hearing when writing, “From behind the students, in the arched interior doorway that led to the family quarters, Rustem heard a slight rustling sound; he glimpsed a shadow on the floor.” The imagery signifies Rustem's daily routine. Rusten is a doctor, and he has students who are under training. Rustem's passion is to teach others the skill of saving lives. When Rustem gets an invitation to travel west to save the life of the King of kings, he gladly accepts the offer.
