Lone Survivor Summary

Lone Survivor Summary

Lone Survivor is set in 2005 Hindu Kush Mountains when a Taliban leader Ahmad Shah kills 20 U.S soldiers and villagers and refugees who were aiding American forces. To respond, U.S Navy Seals (America's elite soldiers) are sent to kill the Taliban leader, with their leader Michael Murphy, Marksmen Marcus Luttrell and Matthew Axelson and communications specialist Danny Dietz this was the most elite team seal team in America.

When the Navy Seal Team gets discovered by a local goat herder, they are left with a decision: should the kill the herders or not? After a brief discussion, they decide to let them live, which ultimately signs the death warrant for most of the people in their team.

Suddenly, the Taliban forces attack the Seal Team. The Taliban kill a number of soldiers when they get overwhelmed and have to retreat down the mountain, causing further injury. When Dietz receives injures, he is knocked unconscious and Luttrell has to carry him to safety while bullets are flying by the faces. Dietz gets shot again and Luttrell loses grip of him he has to leave Dietz to die. Murphy, on the other hand, needs to climb up the hill to use his satellite phone and call in reinforcements. When he reaches the top he calls in the reinforcement and gets shot and is ultimately killed.

Marcus is left alone to survive. He has no water and few supplies and has no support. He ventures through the desert until he finds a village. A village which, surprisingly, is willing to help him despite the tremendous risk to themselves. They nurse Marcus back to health and care for him very well.

Meanwhile, the Navy races against time to find Marcus and his team. They send a rescue mission which ultimately results in a massive loss of life.

Marcus stays at the village for a while longer until the Navy sends a rescue mission which succeeds, at which point Marcus goes home and continues to get healthy once again.
