Quotes

"We train for war and fight to win. I stand ready to bring the full spectrum of combat power to bear to achieve my mission and the goals established by my country. The execution of my duties will be swift and violent when required."

“U.S Navy Seal”

The words are imprinted on the 'U.S Navy Seal.' They encourage the navy officers to strive for success while on the battlefield. The navy officers utilize the words as their mantra while executing their duties.

“It always makes me laugh when I read about “the proud freedom fighters in Iraq.” They’re not proud. They’d sell their own mothers for fifty bucks. We’d go into some house, grab the guy we believed was the ringleader, and march him outside into the street. First thing he’d say was “Hey, hey, not me. You want those guys in that house down the street.” Or “you give me dollars, I tell you what you want to know.” They would, and did. And what they told us was very often extremely valuable.”

Marcus

The fighters betray their colleagues by selling them out. Navy SEALs exploit the fighters' love for money to dismantle and destroy them. The fighters offer the SEALs crucial intelligence, which empowers them and offers them an edge over the extremist leaders. Money is significant for it aids in the purchase of intelligence. Accordingly, the fighters are not proud of their course; otherwise, they would not betray the others.

“I am not a political person, and as a Navy SEAL I am sworn to defend my country and carry out the wishes of my commander in chief, the president of the United States, whoever he may be, Republican or Democrat. I am a patriot; I fight for the U.S.A. and for my home state of Texas.”

Marcus

Marcus’ affirmation demonstrates that politics do not impact his zeal to serve his country. Patriotism is the prime appeal which motivates the SEALs to get into war. Accordingly, the SEALs are programmed to defend their country and to obey the president notwithstanding his party. If politics were to be permitted in the Navy, cases of sabotage would ensue rendering the U.S.A weak. The SEAL officers are devoted for they take oaths to serve their countries and not political leaders who change after elections.

“I’ll say one thing. That Iraqi president was one wily devil, ducking and dividing between thirteen palaces, evading capture, making tape recordings, urging the dregs of his armed forces to keep killing is encouraging the insurgents to continue the war against the great Satan ( that’s us).”

Marcus

The 'Iraqi president" has an edge because the war is taking place in his territory; accordingly, the Navy SEALs find it difficult to capture him. For the SEALs, the president is the greatest enemy; he spearheads a war against America. Equating the SEALs to Satan depicts them as evil people and adversaries of Iraq who should be exterminated. Although the president is not physically present on the battlefield, he controls and spearheads the war.
