How are the dinosaurs able to procreate?
The bioengineers created only one sex of dinosaurs on the island in order to prevent any of them from procreating. Ironically though, the scientists used DNA from the West African bullfrog to create the dinosaurs. Their DNA allows them to change sex in a single-sex environment, and with that plugged into the dinosaurs they are able to change sex and thus procreate.

What is the inciting incident in the film?
Dennis Nedry has been bribed by Hammond's corporate rival into stealing an embryo from Jurassic Park which Nedry will be paid handsomely for. Nedry leaves with the embryo and puts a computer program in place that will shut down the park and allow him to leave the island with no one to come after him. But Nedry is killed before he can leave the island and the parks electric fence system completely shuts down which leads to everyone being at risk of being attacked by the dinosaurs.

Why does Tim demand that Lex stop shining the flashlight while the T Rex is near?
The T Rex senses motion and that is how it hunts. Thus while Lex is attempting to find a way to get out of the Jeep and find safety, she is in actuality waving down the T Rex to come to their Jeep. When Tim shuts the car door, the T Rex is on to them and nearly kills them by crushing them in the car.
