Rescue Contract

Collaborative Writing

Objective:

Students will create a contract mimicking what Maureen and July might have written to avoid misunderstandings.

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.4

Structure:

To begin the activity, have students brainstorm in small groups a list of ways to prevent misunderstandings. Then, have students share their ideas with the whole class and make a list on the board. Students may suggest that talking things through, writing down expectations, and having the help of a third party are all ways to prevent misunderstandings.
