Chapter 1
In the first chapter, readers are introduced to a happy four-year-old, James Henry Trotter, who lives with his parents by the sea. His parents are killed by a rhinoceros, forcing James to move in with his Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker. They are mean and abusive.
