    Kind of Activity:

    Group Discussion

    Objective:

    Students will make predictions to engage with the upcoming content.

    Structure:

    In this activity, the students will begin to think critically about James and the Giant Peach and some of the themes of the novel. Divide the students into pairs and project the following statements onto the board:

    • Doing all the chores alone can make you feel accomplished

    • Losing something important can lead to new and unexpected good things

    • Birds and planes are not the only things that fly through the sky

    • A dormant tree can never produce fruit

    • Problems are like tunnels – there's always a chance of finding a bright...
