Inferno Metaphors and Similes

Inferno Metaphors and Similes

Fear (Metaphor)

In this novel, all heroes have the same disease; it makes them afraid and causes them to stop believing in themselves. As the author says, there is only one form of the infection, which spreads faster than the virus. This is fear. Fear is a disease, which forces our heroes to worry during any circumstances. It makes them feel the worst emotions and disturb for every trouble, which cannot be solved rapidly. Sienna Brooks and Professor Langdon understand that fear absorbs them very quickly, but their healing is in courage. Only courage will help to save many thousands of souls.

Poignant disease (Simile)

When Professor Langdon wakes up at the beginning of the book, it turns out that he is in the hospital. In the darkness, Robert feels that the new medicine begins to wash through his system almost instantly. However, he still feels the pain. Robert “tries to sit up, but his body feels like cement.” It means that he cannot feel his body and it is very swollen.

Genetic is like a house of cards (Simile)

There is a very simple explanation about genetics. The author compares it with a house of cards. That is a problem. Our “genetics is like a house of cards - each piece is connected to and supported by countless other pieces.” If we try to remove a single human trait, we can cause hundreds of others to shift simultaneously. It can possibly cause the catastrophic effect.
