Amanda Hardy
Amanda is the story's protagonist, and she goes through a lot of bullying and ridicules most of her life because she is transsexual. When Amanda enters a shopping mall, a male intruder sexually assaults her. Amanda decides to relocate to Lambertville, where her father works, to finish her studies there.
After arriving in Lambertville, Amanda starts a new life and joins her new school, where she expects to finish her studies. Amanda makes new friends in her new school, including Anna, Chloe, and Bee. Amanda gets a new boyfriend in the same school called Grant, and they grow very close. However, their relationship is faced with challenges when news breaks that Amanda was born a boy. Amanda is devastated, but she decides to tell Grant the truth about her sexuality, which is the start of her healing process.
Amanda’s father
Amanda's father is concerned and wants his daughter to be careful with her friends. According to Amanda's father, friends can be opportunistic and take advantage of her anytime. When Amanda befriends Grant, her father disapproves of the relationship, but she persists that she loves him. Later, when Amanda is attacked and injured, her father suspects that Grant is responsible, and he goes to confront him.
Anna, Layla, and Chloe
Anna, Layla, and Chloe are a group of well-known girls that Amanda first befriends in her new school in Lambertville. These girls do not know that Amanda is transsexual, and they are always ready to help her. However, Amanda does not trust them, and she keeps her secrets away from them. While running away from the dancing party, Amanda is sexually assaulted by a stranger. Anna, Chloe, and Layla rescue her and take her home safely.
Bee
Bee is the best friend of Amanda in her new school in Lambertville. Bee openly confesses that she is transgender, and Amanda opens up and tells her the whole truth about her past. The two girls grow closer and become best friends because they share a lot. Slowly, Bee starts developing a sexual interest in Amanda, but she does not tell her. One day during a dancing party, Bee gets drunk and forcefully tries to kiss Amanda in the bathroom. Amanda refuses, and Bee gets out and announces to everyone that Amanda was born a boy.
Grant
Grant is Amanda's boyfriend, and he confesses that he loves her unconditionally. Amanda wants to tell him about her sexuality, but she does not know how to start. Therefore, Amanda writes a letter to Grant explaining her past, but he refuses to read it and assures her of his love on whatever condition. Later, Bee breaks the news that Amanda was born a boy, and she runs away. When they meet, Amanda is bold enough to tell Grant everything about her past.
Parker
Parker is the boy who sexually assaults Amanda when she runs away from the party after Bee embraces her and spills the truth that she was born a boy. Parker gets away with the assault, but Amanda is rescued by her friends and taken home.
