Compare and contrast Jeffrey and Lotus. Why are there such differences between these two communities?
Jeffrey has sidewalks, running water, stores, a post office, a bank, and a school. It is a typical small town that can be found in most states still to this day. Lotus, in contrast, was separate from Jeffrey. It sat on the outskirts and there were no sidewalks or indoor plumbing, just a cluster of about 50 houses, and two churches.
