Entry/Exit Cards
Kind of Activity:
Individual Writing
Objective:
Students will create index cards of their individual, reflective writing to be collected by the teacher at the beginning and the end of class.
Structure:
When students arrive in class, ask them to answer one of today's Thought Questions on an index card. Allow them to write for about 5-10 minutes. This will be their "Entry Card." Collect the cards and use their answers to jumpstart the lesson.
After class discussion, ask students to write an "Exit Card" in which they answer one of these questions:
• What was the most confusing part of the content covered in today's class?
• What questions do you have about...
