Hamlet
Hamlet is one of literature's most well-known characters and has been explored and debated by critics for centuries. In this film adaption, Hamlet is played by David Tennant, who has been praised for his depiction of this tragic hero. Hamlet is a troubled character, distraught after the death of his father and set on getting his revenge.
Ophelia
Ophelia is depicted as an innocent and fragile character and is Hamlet's love interest. After the death of her father, she becomes overwhelmed with grief and kills herself.
Claudius
Played by Patrick Stewart, Claudius is the antagonist of this film. He marries Hamlets mother shortly after the death of King Hamlet, and it is later revealed that he is the murderer of the late king. He does this in order to secure the throne of Denmark.
Horatio
Horatio is Hamlet's good friend. He sees the ghost and believes it looks like the former King Hamlet.
