After King Hamlet's death, his son, Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, comes home from school to mourn his death. To his astonishment, her mother, Queen Gertrude, has been married to his uncle, Claudius. Claudius has assumed the position of the king. The opening shot of the film is through a security camera. Hamlet breaks down in an attempt to make his speech. However, he turns to the camera and addresses it. The bond between the characters is strong. The audience can see a ghost appearing to watchmen and Horatio. Horatio believes that the ghost resembles the late King Hamlet. When the ghost disappears, we see another shot from the surveillance camera.
Before the ghost disappears, it informs Hamlet that Claudius poisoned the king in the ear, thus, killing him. Afterward, Hamlet pretends to be mad to determine the reason behind the killing of his father. Claudius starts suspecting him and sends his two friends to begin spying on him. Hamlet discovers the whole plot and shuns them. At some point, Hamlet nearly kills his uncle while praying. But he shuns his plans after realizing that killing him in the chapel will make him go to heaven. In the end, Claudius, Hamlet, and Gertrude die at the same point.
The film is entangled in a web of consequences of revenge and venality. Hamlet spends most of his time contemplating about revenging the death of his father. Eventually, when he makes good his decision and stabs Claudius to death, Hamlet also dies due to poison. Therefore, he never lives to enjoy vengeance. Corruption is also prevalent throughout the movie. Claudius uses corruption to scheme and kills his brother. Though the corruption carries him to the throne, his leadership is full of chaos.
