“Rush/Emergency, priority medicine for a virulent plague on the colony planet.”
The narration in this story is fictional, and it entails the transportation of cargo from one planet to the other. In this case, Rowan is concerned about delivering the medical cargo, which is an emergency and needs to be transported to the colony planet suffering from the virulent plague. Rowan tells the ground crew to handle the cargo from planet earth carefully and safely to get to the colony planet where there is an emergency. Deneb VIII is responsible for transporting the said cargo, and it has to meet the limits of Rowan.
“Sock up your shields. She is not going to like your drift.”
Rowan is in charge of the station, and she does not take anything for granted. As the head of the station, she is strict, and every employee knows that she does not make excuses for poorly executed tasks. Ackerman is the stationmaster, and he reminds his people that they have to up their game and do every job to meet the boss's deadline and expectations. The ground men responsible for the arriving cargo signals are on their toes to ensure expectations are met without delays.
“I was going to ask her Highness to give me a lift home.”
This statement is said by Loftus when he meets Ackerman in his office. As they take cigarettes, Ackerman reminds Loftus of the significance of punctuality and staying at the duty stations at all times. When reminded of the duties at hand, Loftus defends himself by saying that he is waiting for her Highness to give her a lift to his home. It is satirical that Loftus is waiting for her Highness to take her based on her descriptions as a strict overseer who does not want to see any employee sitting idle.
