Missed so many sales
One of the things Titus misses is the fact that since he no longer has access to his feed, he loses all the good sales. This idea is presented as being ironic especially since he will be able to access all the sales he wants when he will regain his feed.
Best day ever
After a few days in the hospital, everyone involved in the accident wakes up and they spend their time throwing needles at a picture on the wall. Even though the game is childish, Titus thinks that he was never that entertained never in his life. This is ironic considering all the means of entertainment he had access to and all the possible ways to occupy his mind when he was till connected to the feed.
Happy to have it back
While Titus claimed to have been happy without the feed, he begins cheering and crying when he gets it back. This shows that he was still dependent on it no matter how good he felt without it for a brief period of time.
Build more oxygen factories
Violet talks with Titus’s father about a forest that will be cut down to make space for a new air factory. While Violet questions the necessity of cutting down one of the last forests on earth, Titus claims that it is necessary. Ironically, the forests, which naturally produce oxygen, are cut down to make more space for a factory that will artificially produce oxygen.
Instant gratification
Titus and Violet talk about their world and how instant gratification means that people no longer feel pleasure. Violet tells Titus that she tries to avoid being like everyone else, demanding to have her every whim satisfied as soon as possible and tries to make herself wait so she could enjoy something more. For Titus, who does not understand why someone would want to wait for something good to happen, does not understand why Violet would choose to purposely make herself wait longer. For him, this is ironic and unproductive.
