Last Call

Montag is convinced to go on one last call by the Captain before resigning. Ironically, the final call is to his own home.

Captain

The Captain attempts to lecture Montag on books and their danger, and takes Montag's book from him. Ironically, this act causes Montag to kill him for doing so.

Linda

Montag brings a book home to read to Linda and her friends believing it will open them up as it has done to him. Ironically, it only causes Linda to call the Firemen on her own husband.

Difference of Opinion

Montag reads a passage of a novel to Linda and her friends. One woman begins to cry as she is so deeply moved. Ironically, the others walk out in disgust.

Captured

Montag is said to have been captured by the Firemen, which is shown on television. Ironically, he is a free man who has joined the book people. The staged capture was put together by the government.
