Eye Killers: A Novel Irony

Eye Killers: A Novel Irony

Irony of Elizabeth

Elizabeth was Falke's wife but she helps Michael in his struggle of saving his granddaughter. Elizabeth's love for Michael is also ironical. There is an irony in Elizabeth's life as well. Although she was a vampire but her human side was dominant in her. She was living in the body of a young and beautiful girl but she was ages old. Melissa gets mesmerized by the beauty of Elizabeth and her green eyes cast a spell on her. She compares her gaze with a sun and thinks that it's like sun rays are sparkling on ocean waves. Elizabeth takes away her life after saving Melissa from Falke's entrapment owing to Falke's infidelity and his vicious nature. The eternal life of a monster starts tormenting her so she ends her life.

Irony of Love

It is ironical that Falke sees a sight of his beloved in a human being and then his attempts of getting her are also ironical. Falke claims to love Melissa but he hurts her again and again and tries to take her life as well. He kidnaps her and takes her away from her family. He keeps her in a cave where life was hard to her. Although he had a wife and a mistress but still he couldn't resist his manipulative nature and haunts Melissa. After meeting Melissa, he feels like he has come to a safe heaven like an ancient mariner. Elizabeth love for Melissa's grandfather is also ironical because she seems to be falling in love with a human being for whom she betrays her husband and helps Michael in saving his granddaughter.

Irony of Hanna

Hanna's attitude is also ironical because she was Falke's mistress. Instead of persecuting him for his infidelity, she hurts Melissa and kills Michael. She becomes furious when she gets to know about Falke's love interest but she punishes Melissa for his betrayal. She compares herself to a plucked flower which was left in a desert to wither away. Her malicious nature and her revenge makes her more vicious and she takes away Melissa's grandfather's life without any reason. Both Elizabeth and Hanna are vampires but they seem to be at opposite poles of humanity. Elizabeth is dominated by her virtuous nature while Hanna is motivated by her evil nature.

Irony of Melissa

Melissa bites her teacher Diana after being transformed into a vampire. She hurt her but Diana helps her grandfather in his journey to save Melissa's life. She undergoes a ritual to fight with the eye killers in order to save her student. Diana finds her in a cave but Melissa was reluctant to go back with Diana. Despite of all the hurdles, Diana succeeds in weakening Falke and takes Melissa away from him.

Irony of Michael

Melissa's grandfather was a human and Elizabeth was a vampire but despite of knowing this they start meeting often after Elizabeth drags Melissa to the hospital. They share their perspectives about their fate and becomes connected through a bond of love. In the beginning of the novel, Michael dreams about his wife but during his attempts to save his granddaughter, somehow he falls in love with a vampire.
