Equilibrium Irony

Equilibrium Irony

War is Over

Father tells everyone that the war is over because of the Prozium everyone takes. Ironically, Father and his soldiers continue to murder people who don't fall into line with what they want.

Look at You

John comes to Mary's home to take her in and he turns her against a mirror and tells her to look at herself. Ironically when he does he sees himself and her in the mirror and begins to feel which makes him just like her even though he is taking her in.

We Need Her

John stops Brandt from killing Mary. He says that they needs her but ironically it is because he is beginning to feel again and does not want to see anyone killed again. It's too hard for him to see.

Epidemic

John and his men find dogs in the Nether and when John is asked to give the last dog to the men to kill he doesn't. He says that it has to be tested for disease as there could be an epidemic. Ironically he keeps the dog so that it doesn't get killed as it would be too hard to see this puppy executed.

Poetry

Partridge says that he has kept the Yeats poetry in order to turn it in himself. Ironically he has kept it in order to read for himself as he has begun to feel things deeply inside of him from the art that he has collected.
