Describe the setting of Endgame. What do you think is happening off-stage, outside the interior spaces in which the action takes place?

This is a fairly open question. The setting of Endgame is, as with many other details in the play, not described in a very great amount of detail. Additionally, elliptical comments by the plays characters (for example, that nature has "abandoned" them) add to the mystery surrounding the setting. This may lead some students to consider that Endgame is set in some kind of irradiated post-apocalyptic landscape, but ultimately, there is no single correct answer.
