The best for Bella (Metaphor)
Bella is a very cheerful and beautiful girl, who has many friends. She gets support from her boyfriend vampire Edward. “He is a drug for Bella.” Jacob sees that Bella cannot live without him. If he disappears from her life, Bella will die, because she cannot breath and exist without Edward. Bella is dependent on him. It is too late to change something. However, Jacob says that he can be healthier for Bella. Not a drug; “he can be the air, the sun”. Bella has a complicated choice.
Like an earthquake (Simile)
When Edward and Jacob defend Bella against Victoria in the tent in the mountains, the author uses a very interesting simile of the natural forces. “The wind rips around the tent, shaking it like an earthquake.” It means that the weather is awful and the wind is strong enough to tear down the tent.
Like a zombie (Simile)
When Bella sees Jacob, his appearance is not very healthy. She asks Jake what is with him. “He is like a zombie.” This comparison makes it clear how much Jacob worries about Bella. He looks like a zombie, because he cannot fall asleep and all the time he thinks about Bella.
