Duckie
Duckie is the main protagonist of the story and he recollects tales of his younger self when he used to visit the Wise Old Man in the Desert of Drize. He is made to appreciate the life he lives when he learns of the stories of others who are not as lucky as he.
Wise Old Man
He is Duckie’s friend and would sing him songs when he would come to visit. This character lives in the Desert of Drize and sits upon a prickly cactus, which he finds comfortable. He would sing songs about how lucky Duckie’s life is and contrasts it against those that are far unluckier.
