Police Brutality

When security agencies arrived at the hotel, a police officer named Krauss kills Cooper after trying to flee. He goes further to plant a knife on him to make it look like it was in self-defense. Krauss subjects everyone in the hotel to physical and mental torture. As they tortured them with mock executions, Pollard is purposefully executed and Temple is fatally shot twice. The others are released on the condition that they remain quiet about the events of that day.

Racism

In the film, racism runs rampant, especially in the police force. When a white policeman kills a looter, he is shielded from facing charges by his superiors. When the police arrive at the hotel, they discriminate against the guests by treating them like animals and without respect. Some police officers get angry when they see two white girls at a hotel filled with black men. They insult the girls for being around black people. These cops have no respect for the positions they hold. Instead, they use it to exercise their racist ideologies. The rogue officers are never charged, which exposes the systemic racism that exists in the United States to this day.

Murder and Violence

Mass protests and riots begin after police officers crackdown on an unlicensed club, hosting a party for black veterans. The police and military are called in to restore order. Chaos ensues and people are killed on the street by police for unjustified reasons. Rioters are looting and inflicting violence on everyone regardless of race.

Racial Divide

The effects of racial housing are well documented in this film. Most black people lived in designated zones meant for lower-income families. This made it easier for police officers to target them and inflict suffering. At the hotel, two white girls have wandered in, and while there, they are the odd ones out. The divide between black people made it impossible to interact freely with white people. The racial divide was so big that those two white girls being in that hotel when the racist officers arrived only made their situation worse.
