Anthony Mackie
Mackie was the last of the leading actors to sign on to the film and he did so largely because Will Poulter, whom he had seen in The Narnia Chronicles : Voyage of the Dawn Treader had already done so. Mackie started his career on the big screen in Eminem's movie debut 8 Mile and after a much-lauded role in The Hurt Locker, during which he worked with Bigelow for the first time, he went on to become a member of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
John Boyega
Boyega, a British-Nigerian actor, rose to prominence in The Star Wars Trilogy before signing on to play the role of Melvin Dismukes. He was one of the first actors to commit to the movie, and also one of the most critically acclaimed; his performance was very well-received by the movie going public despite the fact that the film itself was not.
Hannah Murray
Murray was the first of the cast to be announced publicly, largely because of the incredible following the had gathered during her time as part of the cast of Game of Thrones. Although the fact that she was going to be in the film was announced, though, the role that she would play was kept under wraps until other cast members had come on board. In 2004 she was the recipient of a BAFTA award for her performance on the television serial Skins.
Will Poulter
Another Brit rounding out the leading actors of the film, Poulter came to public attention as a child, receiving great praise for his role in The Chronicles of Narnia : Voyage of the Dawn Treader. He also appeared in The Maze Runner franchise.
Algee Smith
Algee Smith burst onto the movie scene with not one, but two, outstanding performances in 2017. After appearing as Ralph Tresvant in the television mini-series The New Edition Story, Smith also signed on to play Larry Reed in Detroit. Smith's performance was the most critically acclaimed of the movie, and he received two nominations in the Best Actor category in both the NAACP and the Black Reel Awards respectively.
