The Paradox of Eric (Bitty) Bittle

Eric Bitty is stereotyped as gentle, humble, friendly, and harmless. Besides, Eric is a multitalented individual who excels in most sporting activities. Ironically, despite being the most humble person, Eric participates in hockey, a game characterized by violence and the use of force against opponents. Hockey is a naturally vicious and ruthless sport. Consequently, hockey is not fit for Eric because he hates aggression and playing rough against others.

The relationship between Bitty and Jack

Bitty is a college freshman, and Jack is a senior student, the most feared by many freshmen. The first time Bitty meets Jack, he is scared, and their first interaction is messy. Ironically, a few days later, Jack and Bitty become closer to the extent of having a romantic relationship. However, Bitty and Jack keep their romance a secret from the rest of the teammates.

Bitty’s excellence in hockey

Bitty played hockey in high school but never liked the game because he failed to score. In addition, Bitty feels that hockey is not for humble people like him. After joining college, Bitty is not ready to participate in hockey because he is scared of failure. Ironically, after Jack mentors Bitty, he emerges as the best hockey player on the college team because he often scores the winning goals.
