A darting being (imagery)
According to Sneha, her uncle is a nipping being, someone you cannot ignore. Sneha says that her uncle is "A darting creature with huge eyes, Monchayan was. Wispy hurricane of hair circling the bare eye of his scalp." From this imagery, the reader acknowledges that Sneha has a loving family that values her well-being. The imagery also shows the irony of Sneha, who later decided to date fellow women despite her childhood surrounded by men.
Makeup (imagery)
Sneha is a beautiful queen by her standards, and the image of her dress code paints this. While at work, Sneha dresses professionally but maintains her shape. Sneha narrates, “I was wearing the makeup from work and a filmy blouse. It showed my body’s clean lines. My hair fell to my collarbone." The imagery shows Sneha’s preference and the need to attract those around her, especially Marian, a woman she has a crush on.
Thom’s Fiancée
Sneha describes Thom’s fiancée using imagery. Sneha narrates, "Thom’s girlfriend had dark wisps of hair and a beautiful face, as soft and malleable as a bay’s." Sneha has been very close to Thom since college; however, she is scared of his girlfriend. However, the description of Thom's girlfriend shows her confidence and beauty.
