All the Light We Cannot See Lesson Plan

Relationship to Other Books

All the Light We Cannot See is often taught in a larger context when students are learning about World War II and the Holocaust, and as such could be paired with other literature focusing on the same time period — Elie Wiesel's Night, for a non-fiction account, or Lois Lowry's Number the Stars and John Boyne's The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, just to name a few. Students might also enjoy Maus, Art Spiegelman's graphic novel that deals with the Holocaust.

In addition, students could read real-life narratives of individuals who suffered through or died in the Holocaust (or in other places, during the war), by reading The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank and similar books.
