abomination

A repulsive offense against nature.

pristine

Unspoiled and untouched; in mint condition.

chivalrous

Gallant, courtly and noble; polite toward women and those in need.

pestilence

A virulent plague; an epidemic.

unsullied

Immaculate, pure and unstained; pristine.

attaint

A disgrace; dishonor brought upon someone.

rectitude

Moral decency; righteousness.

indemnity

Recompense for an insurance against injury in the event the injury occurs.

garrison

Quarters for stationed military troops.

sufferance

The level of tolerance one person has for another or others.

morass

Metaphor for a chaotic, messy quagmire named after the defined meaning of a soft, unsure bit of wetlands.

appease

To forge a peace; usually within the context of surrendering before you even go to war.

envoy

An emissary on a diplomatic assignment; an ambassador.

venal

Unprincipled and corrupted.

prevaricate

To lie or, at least, give the appearance of enough ambiguity to create suspicion of lying.

dispatch

Transmission through the act of sending a message or messenger.

askance

To view with mistrust or suspicion.

abjure

To renounce an oath or repudiate an association.

puissant

Possessed of great power.

abattoir

Slaughterhouse; anywhere that animals are butchered.

malediction

A curse, hex or pox called upon a person or place.

sinister

Sneaky in a treacherous and underhanded way.

torpor

A state of fatigue resulting from a lack of energy caused by long periods of inactivity.

obdurate

Pigheadedly stubborn; inflexible to the point wrongheadedness.

tome

A book, usually conveying a sense of heft, weight and academic quality.

succor

Aid, relief and assistance.

respite

A pause that is taken from doing a singular task.

vilify

To disparage or malign someone, usually in a very public and humiliating way.
