Miranda didn't call Via because she didn't want to talk about serious things like her parents divorce, and she didn't want to be asked.
When I got home from camp, I called Ella right away to make plans with her. I don't know why I didn't call Via....

Via's section serves another important purpose in the novel: it fills in information that Auggie's opening section did not provide. Readers get a detailed description of how Auggie's face looks, an issue that was skirted in the first section....
