How does Dr. Seuss describe the animals?
Dr. Seuss depicts a number of exciting and imaginative creatures, which are described using whimsical imagery. The imagery used in this book brings Dr. Seuss' creations to life, helping the reader to understand these creatures. For example, one of the children imagines "fast kind of things, who would fly round my head in a ring on a string." What Pet Should I Get? is set in a pet store. The children are visiting because their father has told them that they can choose any pet they like; importantly, they can only choose one. Quickly, this pet shop becomes a whimsical one, with all sorts of fantastical creatures. The pet shop is not described in great detail, leaving it up to the reader's imagination.
