We Have Always Lived in the Castle: The Game

Objective:

Students will visually represent the action of the book on a game board, mirroring Merricat's journey through the village.

Common Core Standards:

CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RL.9-10.1; CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.9-10.9

Structure:

When Merricat goes shopping in the village, she imagines that she’s playing a game. In this activity, students will make a board game based on Merricat’s shopping trip.

Each student will need:

-a piece of poster board

-colored pens, pencils, or markers

-index cards (can also cut cards out of paper)

The board should somehow represent Merricat’s journey from the library...
