Structure:
The destruction of Moscow is a turning point in the novel, as well as in Russian history. Tolstoy provides specific descriptions of some of the scenes happening in Moscow during the French invasion that show the horror Russian people felt at the destruction of their capital. In order to fully understand the impact of this seminal event, it is helpful to create visual representations of the events.
