Reading assignment: Read Epilogue Part 1 and 2.
Epilogue 1 has elements of commentary as well as conclusion of the main narrative of the text. Epilogue 2 is composed entirely of commentary expressing Tolstoy’s view on history. Teachers can choose if it is appropriate to include those essays in their students reading. The content summary of each chapter explains if the chapter is relevant to the narrative, or purely a commentary.
